Sr. Facilities – Mechanical/Electrical Engineer
Job Description
The Goodman Group is seeking a Senior Facilities Engineer to provide engineering leadership, direction, and project management across its senior living and healthcare communities. The role centers on designing, commissioning, qualifying, and maintaining critical facilities with a focus on healthcare operations, delivering reliable and energy-efficient systems. This hybrid remote position is based in Chaska, Minnesota, with a salary range of USD 80,000 to 110,000 per year and a minimum of five years of engineering experience required, along with a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
Responsibilities
- Maintain reliable and efficient HVAC and related mechanical systems that support daily operations.
- Influence equipment uptime, energy performance, and long-term facility sustainability through expert analysis, design, and system optimization.
- Lead and oversee equipment and construction projects, ensuring schedules and budgets are met.
- Supervise maintenance activities for roofs, exterior siding, windows, doors, parking areas, chillers and cooling towers, exterior lighting, and overall building energy efficiency.
- Lead the design and deployment of energy management initiatives, including solar projects and split-meter implementations.
- Provide project management support for infrastructure upgrades and capital improvement efforts.
- Oversee the national Emergency Services program with ongoing communications and training updates.
- Negotiate national and local supplier and service agreements.
- Be responsible for electrical and mechanical equipment layouts and modifying facilities in line with the plan.
- Prepare bid packages and contracts to enable competitive procurement for infrastructure or construction projects.
- Program Building Automation Control software to support daily facility and building operations.
- Develop and assist maintenance programs to maximize system uptime and operational stability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent work-related experience with at least five years in a relevant field, plus applicable industry certifications.
- Experience, code knowledge, and building-system familiarity aligned with assigned responsibilities.
- Strong computer skills, including TELS, AutoCAD, BlueBeam, and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Licenses or certifications such as PE or RA, CCM, or ASHE CHC are preferred.
- Ability to manage a large workload across programming, approval, design, construction, occupancy, and close-out phases to meet deadlines.
- Thorough knowledge of OSHA, EPA, OSHPD, and ACHA regulations related to operation and maintenance.
- Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and negotiation skills when interacting with management and staff.
- Proven ability to generate innovative ideas and develop creative solutions.
- Data-driven mindset with a track record of using information to anticipate issues or quickly implement action plans.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and people skills; capable of working independently and in team settings.
- Ability to travel as needed, up to 5%.
