Job Description

On-site, full-time Electrical Engineer with MEC Energy Services, LLC, supporting the U.S. Embassy Moscow. The role reports to the Building Engineer Supervisor and focuses on engineering design upgrades and operation and maintenance of Embassy electrical power distribution systems. The position requires U.S. citizenship and willingness to relocate to Moscow.

Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the Building Engineer Supervisor, perform engineering design upgrades to ensure continuous electrical operation of installed systems, including the maintenance and repair of the Embassy Compound Electrical Power Distribution Systems, interior and exterior. Components include generators, voltage regulators, transformers, medium and low-voltage switchgear, automatic transfer switches, motor control centers, distribution panelboards and sub-panels, feeders, branch circuits, lighting and power outlets, the fire alarm system and components, and uninterruptible power supply systems.
  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert and oversee the operations and maintenance of large, complex electrical systems and equipment including emergency generators and power generation equipment, medium and low-voltage switchgear, motor control centers, distribution panelboards and sub-panels, transformers, voltage regulators, automatic transfer switches, feeder wires and cabling, branch circuit wiring, lighting and power outlets, the fire alarm system and components, and uninterruptible power supply systems.
  • Resolve complicated electrical problems with minimal disruption to Embassy operations and restore these systems to their designed operating parameters and efficiency. Oversee an aggressive and comprehensive preventative maintenance program for critical and non-critical equipment and systems by directing subordinate electrical technicians from the facility maintenance staff, and/or monitoring contracted service providers, ensuring they use KPIs to analyze equipment and system performance.
  • Oversee the electrical operations and maintenance of Operating Leased properties to include large, complex electrical systems and equipment including emergency generators and power generation equipment, medium and low-voltage switchgear, motor control centers; distribution panel boards and sub-panels; voltage regulators; automatic transfer switches; feeder wire and cabling; branch circuit wiring; lighting and power outlets, and uninterruptable power supply systems.
  • Resolve complicated electrical problems with minimal disruption to operating leased operations and restore these systems to their designed operating parameters and efficiency.
  • Develop an in-depth working knowledge of the general contractual and detailed requirements of the construction contract for the Post managed projects and other Agency Projects as appropriate.
  • Observe the execution of construction to assure adherence to approved drawings and specifications, inspect construction workmanship, materials, methods of equipment, and report to Building Engineer Supervisor as to their conformity and non-conformity to the approved drawings and specifications. Make recommendations to the Building Engineer Supervisor on how to correct deficiencies and resolve problems during construction. Work independently and maintain daily construction surveillance logs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university program or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Minimum five years of experience in construction/installation of mechanical systems in buildings, including roles such as journeyman, project engineer, superintendent, or project manager.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, riser diagrams, wiring schematics, equipment schedules, and other construction documents.
  • Proficient with computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), AutoCAD, and MS Project.
  • Experience with electrical engineering drafting, engineering management software, daily construction inspection logs, coordination design drawings for code compliance, and the ability to create mechanical engineering cost estimates and brief stakeholders on engineering issues.
  • Strong written reporting skills in English for the Senior/Deputy Facility Manager and other stakeholders.
  • Top Secret security clearance required.
