Engineer III - Technical Support Engineering , Data Analysis
Job Description
Parker Hannifin Corporation is hiring an Engineer III for Technical Support Engineering and Data Analysis in Akron, OH (hybrid, with work permitted 1 day per week within a reasonable commuting distance). In this role, you will support customers across the product lifecycle, from entry-into-service through end-of-life, while driving design improvements with minimal supervision.
You will coordinate data mining and root-cause investigations with a focus on braking systems, update technical documentation, and contribute to aftermarket readiness and NPI gate review activities. Collaboration is central to the position, with frequent interfaces across engineering, QA, program leadership, and MRO repair stations, including a weekly connection with off-site colleagues.
How you will contribute
- Provide technical solutions to customers by addressing issues from entry-into-service until end-of-life, supporting long-term customer relationships.
- Lead design improvements for existing products with minimal supervision.
- Support assignment outcomes that may include product design changes, root cause corrective action investigations, development of troubleshooting tools for maintenance, and analysis of component and fleet reliability concerns.
- Apply standard principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to solve a variety of problems, including referencing the component maintenance manual (CMM).
- Coordinate an offshore contracting team to perform data mining of detailed tear down reports to establish failure causes.
- Organize, interpret, and report findings with little guidance.
- Play a key role in the ongoing customer feedback process.
- Direct updates to CMMs for in-service aircraft model programs.
- Represent Technical Support (aftermarket) in support of the NPI process in preparation for gate reviews and aftermarket milestones.
Collaboration and technical interface
- Interface daily with the manager, engineering teams, other engineering departments, program and project managers, quality assurance, and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) repair stations to resolve product deficiencies, design changes, maintenance issues, and manufacturing process and cost impacts.
- Work within a global customer support network, with weekly contact with field support engineering team members, customer support engineering team members, and other colleagues off-site.
- Interface with OEM customer support engineers with a focus on the data supporting root cause of issues in the braking system.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field of study.
- Ten (10) years of experience as a Reliability Engineer or related role where the required experience was gained.
- Experience with braking system components including wheels, brakes, valves, sensors, electromechanical actuators, and their failure modes.
- Experience with SAP, Salesforce, MS Project, MS Power BI, and MS SharePoint.
- Experience coordinating offshore team members and contractors.
- Experience with CMMs or other service documentation such as Service Bulletins or Service letters for in-service aircraft model programs.
- Experience performing FRACA (Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action) and deep dive root cause analysis on Braking Systems.
