Machine Learning Engineer Graduate (CV/NLP/Multimodal LLM, Trust and Safety) - 2026 Start (BS/MS)

TikTok invites you to join its Trust and Safety team as a Graduate Machine Learning Engineer, with a 2026 start date and onsite work in San Jose, CA. You will contribute to building and deploying advanced content understanding models that span computer vision, natural language processing, and multimodal systems to keep the platform safe. This role collaborates across product, engineering, and data science to define objectives, design scalable ML pipelines, and drive data-driven strategies. The position offers a competitive base salary range of USD 122,574 to 256,000 per year, along with a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Partner with product teams to set business objectives and strengthen trust and safety initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy ML models, design online workflows, and scale serving pipelines.
• Work with the data science team to identify key challenges and propose data-driven strategies.
• Develop and apply state-of-the-art content understanding techniques including unimodal and multimodal classifiers, active learning, reinforcement learning, and large language models.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Hands-on or academic experience in machine learning, large language models, recommendation systems, or related areas.
• Strong coding skills.
• Curiosity about new technologies, an entrepreneurial mindset, and strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Benefits

• Base salary range for this location is USD 122,574 to 256,000 annually, with variation possible based on qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location. Base pay is part of the total package and may be eligible for discretionary bonuses or incentives and restricted stock units.
