Senior Structural Design Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Structural Design Engineer to join the Engineering Services team in Decatur, IL. The position focuses on supporting facility CapEx improvement projects while contributing to broader engineering initiatives. This is a high impact role for a seasoned engineer who can independently manage structural design assignments from concept through to completion in an industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and execute structural engineering tasks for major and mid-size projects
• Perform full-cycle structural design and detailing for industrial facilities
• Design and analyze steel structures, concrete systems, and foundations
• Address complex engineering challenges, including conflicting design requirements and material limitations
• Coordinate across disciplines to ensure project alignment and successful execution
• Review project progress with leadership and provide technical recommendations
• Recommend improvements to engineering processes and procedures
• Prepare technical reports and documentation
• May supervise engineers and technicians on project assignments

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Structural, Agricultural, or Architectural Engineering with a structural emphasis
• 10+ years of structural engineering experience in industrial or similar environments
• Strong expertise in steel and concrete design, and foundation systems
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple project phases
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Pay Rate: $52 – $62 per hour, based on experience; final rate determined by the hiring manager
• Schedule: Day Shift, 8 hours per day
• Duration: Up to 1 year
