Technical Product Support Engineer

Onto Innovation is hiring a Technical Product Support Engineer to deliver expert technical support for semiconductor products to both internal and external customers. Based in Milpitas, CA on-site, this role combines remote escalation support, customer site collaboration, and field service partnership to resolve complex hardware issues and strengthen the overall support system.

In addition to hands-on troubleshooting, the position supports documentation and qualification activities for new product introduction, contributes field insights to design teams, and provides on-the-job training for Field Service Engineers.

What you’ll do

• Provide expert-level hardware support for the installation base using an escalation process, delivering assistance via remote support or directly at customer sites.
• Develop and communicate clear action plans and outcomes to internal and external customers.
• Improve the support structure for existing products through documentation revisions and support documentation development, including feeding field quality issues back to design engineers.
• Provide on-the-job training to Field Service Engineers.
• Support New Product Development with Field Service input through design reviews and testing.
• Support documentation development and qualification criteria during New Product Introduction.
• Provide occasional support of field service activities in a Field Service Engineer capacity.
• Remain stationary for lengthy periods of time and reposition self to access serviceable areas within a cleanroom environment.
• Frequently move components or diagnostic equipment up to 50 pounds in a cleanroom environment.

Required qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Field Support Service.
• BS in an electronics discipline, or equivalent military experience in a technical field.
• Strong troubleshooting background with familiarity working on PCs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to travel 50% domestically and internationally, with a current Visa or entry permission.
