Bridge Project Engineer

This onsite role emphasizes hands-on design work, cross-discipline collaboration, and opportunities to mentor junior staff while delivering critical bridge projects. You will partner with the project manager, apply engineering techniques, and contribute to project delivery across disciplines to drive successful outcomes.

Location: Houston, TX (onsite, Fannin)

Responsibilities

• Plan and allocate discipline-specific work while ensuring adherence to schedule and budget on projects.
• Support marketing efforts, including proposal generation.
• Contribute to the development of scope of work and level of effort for projects within your discipline.
• Ensure the completeness and accuracy of the project team’s technical output; guide and mentor the team toward overall project objectives.
• Coordinate technical aspects of the project with client counterparts and teaming partners at staff level for the discipline.
• Collaborate closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
• Execute additional duties as assigned.
• Produce and modify design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects.
• Consult with the project manager to perform research, development, calculations, design, and delivery.
• Apply engineering techniques, procedures, and design criteria across projects of varying size and complexity.
• Leverage technical knowledge to address design issues, working with the project manager and clients to meet the project schedule through thoughtful problem solving.
• Develop conceptual and detailed designs and calculations using current drawing and technical tools, programs, and software.
• May mentor, train, and review the work of junior engineers, providing constructive feedback.
• Contribute to the successful delivery of a diverse range of projects for HNTB’s clients as a collaborative team member.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 6 years of relevant experience, or
• Master’s degree in Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience, or
• PhD in Engineering with 4 years of relevant experience
