Service Engineer
Job Description
A Service Engineer position with a Japanese manufacturer based in Cincinnati, focused on on-site installation and commissioning, technical support, and B2B client relations, with cross-border coordination to the Japan headquarters.
Responsibilities
- On-site Installation & Commissioning: Lead the physical installation, setup, and testing of equipment at client sites across the region, primarily for projects managed by our headquarters in Japan.
- Technical Support & Maintenance: Provide high-level troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs to maximize uptime for our B2B customers.
- B2B Client Relations: Serve as the technical representative for Japanese-affiliated firms in the U.S., managing expectations and building long-term trust through professional service.
- Cross-Border Coordination: Act as a bridge between the Cincinnati office and the Japanese HQ. Translate technical requirements, report site conditions, and coordinate project timelines to ensure global alignment.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare detailed service reports, technical manuals (when necessary), and feedback logs for the engineering team in Japan to support product improvement.
Requirements
- Technical Expertise: A strong background in mechanical or electrical engineering, with hands-on experience in equipment installation or field service.
- Bilingual Proficiency (English & Japanese): Japanese at business level or higher; able to communicate complex technical issues with HQ in Japan and handle professional correspondence with Japanese clients.
- English: Professional working proficiency for local operations and vendor management.
- Client-Facing Skills: Proven experience in B2B sales support or customer service, particularly with Japanese corporate culture and business etiquette.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a small-team environment (4–5 people) where taking initiative and wearing multiple hats are essential.
- Mobility: Willingness to travel to client sites as required by project schedules.
- Timing: Availability to start and undergo handover between July and September.
