Job Description

Join WSP's Power & Energy team in Seattle, on site, as a Senior Structural Engineer (Generation). This role concentrates on structural design for heavy industrial and power infrastructure projects from concept through completion. You will apply seismic, wind, rotating equipment, and loading concepts while using industry-standard analysis tools. Responsibilities

  • Lead structural engineering efforts from concept to project delivery for heavy industrial and power infrastructure work.
  • Perform structural calculations and analyses in accordance with applicable building codes and standards.
  • Develop specifications and design drawings for heavy industrial and power infrastructure projects.
  • Review vendor submittals and respond to RFIs to support project progress.
  • Coordinate technical issues with internal and external engineers, designers, drafters, and client representatives.
  • Contribute to proposal development and support client relationship management.
  • Assist with project scheduling, sequencing, budgeting, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Communicate directly with clients and multidisciplinary teams to align project goals.
  • Apply knowledge of seismic, wind, rotating equipment, and loading behavior in structural design.
  • Utilize engineering analysis tools such as STAAD Pro, RISA, SAP2000, L-Pile, and Mathcad.
  • Support production efforts using Revit, AutoCAD, or Navisworks.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision making regarding funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Requirements

  • ABET-accredited bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • Five (5) or more years of relevant structural design experience in heavy industry, electrical power infrastructure, or plant building design.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Familiarity with project management fundamentals including scheduling, budgeting, and coordination of multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to comply with WSP’s health, safety, and harassment policies.
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
  • Must successfully complete and pass WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
  • Subject to client-mandated drug/alcohol testing; random drug/alcohol tests may occur. A copy of the policy is provided during onboarding and is available upon request.
