Software Engineer III - Java Full Stack Developer

Deloitte is seeking a Software Engineer III - Java Full Stack Developer to shape Java/Spring back-end and React front-end solutions, with Python components powering healthcare AI-driven initiatives and client engagements. This onsite role in Stamford, CT emphasizes scalable architectures, performance optimization, and collaboration across engineering, product, and client teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across the stack by shaping architecture and delivering implementations for both the React front end and the Python back end, ensuring maintainability and scalability.
• Design data schemas, develop and optimize SQL queries, manage migrations, and drive performance improvements.
• Establish and maintain standards for code quality, testing, CI/CD pipelines, documentation, and observability including logging, metrics, and tracing.
• Design, build, and optimize scalable software for AI platforms and consumer devices.
• Incorporate load, stress, and real-user scenario testing into the development and production lifecycles, with automation where applicable.
• Analyze and address performance, reliability, and scalability challenges in complex systems.
• Collaborate with engineers working on custom hardware, embedded systems, and cloud infrastructure.
• Apply advanced profiling, benchmarking, and system optimization techniques.
• Contribute to solution architecture, API design, security, and system integration.
• Communicate regularly with engagement managers (Directors) and project teams, escalating issues that require management attention.
• Independently and collaboratively lead client engagement workstreams focused on process improvement, optimization, and transformation, implementing leading-practice workflows and driving operational outcomes.

Requirements

• More than seven years of experience in software, systems, or embedded engineering.
• Seven-plus years of experience with Java/J2EE.
• Seven-plus years building Python APIs/services using frameworks such as FastAPI, Django, or Flask.
• At least two years in a tech lead or team lead role guiding engineering decisions and delivery.
• SQL expertise including data modeling, query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning.
• React experience focusing on component design, state management, and performance considerations.
• Experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, or distributed systems patterns.
• Familiarity with Docker containerization and Kubernetes orchestration.
• Understanding of network protocols, security best practices, and scalable API design.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum environments, including sprint planning, code reviews, and collaborative problem-solving.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related IT discipline, or equivalent experience.

• Ability to travel approximately 10% depending on duties and client engagements.
