Dev-Ops Engineer and Test Lead

Siemens is seeking an onsite Dev-Ops Engineer and Test Lead in Buffalo Grove, IL to steer cloud infrastructure, CI/CD automation, deployment reliability, automated testing, and testing strategy across a modern engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain repositories and development infrastructure
• Construct, optimize, and manage CI/CD pipelines with a preference for GitLab
• Oversee Git workflows, branching strategies, and repository structure
• Automate build, test, validation, and deployment processes
• Support system monitoring, reliability, backups, and troubleshooting
• Enhance deployment automation, release processes, and security practices
• Develop automation scripts to streamline engineering workflows
• Incorporate automated testing into CI/CD and DevOps pipelines
• Ensure proper storage, retrieval, and governance of documents and software sources with defined data management rules
• Lead software, integration, regression, and performance testing
• Develop test strategies, plans, procedures, and automated scripts
• Drive defect tracking, root cause analysis, and release readiness
• Maintain test documentation, traceability, and quality metrics
• Manage the application database
• Assess current testing processes and practices and drive improvements
• Define testability requirements
• Provide testing infrastructure requirements
• Integrate testing infrastructure with the System Under Test
• Guide and coach system and software architects and development teams on testing topics
• Define and implement an effective test strategy aligned with business and quality goals
• Define and maintain an efficient test architecture
• Ensure quality of the test code
• Oversee the internal quality of the entire testing environment

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field
• At least 3 years of experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, or software/system testing
• Hands-on experience with shell scripting and CI/CD tooling
• Familiarity with Git workflows and cloud security fundamentals
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills

Salary and incentives

The annual salary ranges from $112,669 to $193,147, with a target incentive of 10% of base salary. Final offers depend on budget, candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and location.
