Mid-Level SQL Engineer

Leidos is seeking a mid-level SQL Engineer to support high-visibility analytics by developing robust SQL queries, shaping data for dashboards, and validating data quality for reporting. This onsite role is based in Alexandria, VA, with a compensation range of USD 87,100 to 157,450 per year.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex SQL queries that utilize joins, aggregations, filtering, subqueries, and window functions to underpin dashboard data.
• Shape query outputs for visualization by applying clear naming, logical grouping, and consistent formatting for dashboard consumption.
• Collaborate with dashboard developers to define and deliver the data required for visualizations and reporting.
• Validate data to ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of datasets used in dashboards.
• Identify inefficient queries and implement basic optimizations to support responsive dashboards.
• Translate dashboard and reporting requirements into effective SQL queries.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field with 4–8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree with 2–6 years
• US Citizenship
• Active TS/SCI with the ability to pass a Polygraph
• Strong SQL skills, including the ability to write advanced queries with joins, aggregations, subqueries, and window functions
• Experience working with enterprise relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, and similar systems
• Background supporting analytics, dashboards, or reporting pipelines
• Comfortable operating in Linux-based environments
• Proven ability to work independently on data-centric tasks and ensure data quality
