Job Description
JPMorganChase's Corporate Sector is seeking a Lead Software Engineer with a focus on agentic systems to guide secure, production-grade software delivery and shape architectural decisions across multiple technology domains. Based onsite in Houston, the role blends hands-on development with leadership in design reviews, vendor engagement, and driving adoption of emerging technologies to support the firm's strategic objectives.

Responsibilities
- Develops innovative software solutions, handles design and debugging, and tackles complex technical problems by exploring non-traditional approaches.
- Writes secure, production-grade code and performs reviews and debugging of peers' code.
- Identifies patterns of recurring issues and automates remediation to improve overall stability of applications and systems.
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and fit within existing information architecture.
- Steers communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote awareness and adoption of new and leading-edge technologies.
- Contributes to a culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect within the team.
Requirements
- Formal training or certification in Software Engineering and at least 7 years of applied experience.
- Hands-on expertise in Python and/or Java with a track record of delivering secure, production-grade code.
- Strong background building cloud-native solutions on AWS, including compute, storage, security/IAM, networking, and observability.
- Experience with large language models and agentic systems, encompassing orchestration patterns, tool and function calling, retrieval, structured outputs, evaluations, and safety guardrails.
- Experience building data-intensive applications and workflows using Databricks (Spark, Delta, jobs/workflows).
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and React for modern web applications.
- Competence in automation and continuous delivery methods with solid SDLC discipline (CI/CD, testing, code quality, release controls).
- Advanced understanding of agile delivery, application resiliency, and secure engineering practices.
- Strong system design skills with the ability to make pragmatic trade-offs and align multiple stakeholders.
