Job Description
Lead Software Engineer within JPMorganChase's Low Latency Trading group, based onsite in Jersey City, NJ. This role emphasizes delivering secure, scalable software as a core technical contributor, with responsibilities spanning architecture, automation, and vendor engagement in a low-latency electronic trading ecosystem. The position carries a salary range of USD 152,000 to 215,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Develops innovative software solutions, leads design and implementation, and performs technical troubleshooting, applying nontraditional approaches to solve complex problems.
- Collaborates with Lines of Business to understand needs and address compute challenges within a low-latency electronic trading environment.
- Guides strategy for server hardware platforms, server OS tuning and automation, and the lifecycle management of infrastructure applications.
- Acts as design authority for the compute infrastructure application stack, overseeing build and configuration management along with log and metric aggregation.
- Liaises with hardware and software vendors on roadmaps to shape the next generation of Electronic Trading Platform infrastructure.
- Writes secure, production-grade code and conducts code reviews and debugging for peers.
- Identifies opportunities to automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software and systems.
- Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to probe architectural designs, credentials, and applicability within existing information architecture.
- Champions communities of practice across Software Engineering to promote adoption of new and leading-edge technologies.

Requirements
- Minimum seven years of relevant experience.
- Hands-on experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
- Strong understanding of IPv4 networking, including the OSI model, unicast/broadcast/multicast, routing, and network segmentation mechanisms.
- Advanced proficiency in one or more programming languages.
- Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methodologies.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
- Deep understanding of agile practices, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
- Proven proficiency in software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (for example cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or mobile).
- In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and its IT systems.
- Hands-on cloud-native experience.
