Job Description

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Melbourne, Florida is seeking a Crew & Equipment Design Engineer at Level 2 or a Principal Crew & Equipment Design Engineer at Level 3 to shape cockpit configurations and integrate equipment for advanced aircraft. The role centers on developing and maintaining crew and cockpit designs, conducting trade studies and risk management using NX and Teamcenter, and coordinating with stakeholders to produce robust, manufacturable configurations. The position offers a salary range of USD 79,300 to 147,600 per year and requires on-site work with the ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. government Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Crew Systems/Cockpit design and Equipment Integration related to Escape Systems
  • Crew Systems/Cockpit design and Equipment Integration related to Transparencies and Canopies
  • Crew Systems/Cockpit design and Equipment Integration related to Cockpit Furnishings, Interiors, and Lighting
  • Crew Systems/Cockpit design and Equipment Integration related to Pilot Controls and Displays
  • Crew Systems/Cockpit design and Equipment Integration related to Operator workstations, consoles, displays, and equipment racks
  • Crew Systems/Cockpit design and Equipment Integration related to Aircraft Secondary Structure
  • Overall cockpit and workstation layouts, including human factors considerations
  • Develop mockups and simulators
  • Perform trade studies, determine results and conclusions, and make recommendations
  • Identify and Manage Risks, Issues and Opportunities
  • Perform design tasks using the NX and Teamcenter tool suite, integrating components into various aircraft applications, coordinating with stakeholders to ensure robust configurations, and applying GD&T to models for producibility

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 2 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 0 years of related professional/military experience
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline with 1 year of related professional/military experience
  • Ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. government Secret clearance (in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access required for the position within a reasonable period
  • Experience with aircraft crew/cockpit design, interiors, or mission equipment/hardware integration
  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software applications
