Job Description

Northrop Grumman seeks an Electrical Subsystem Wiring Design Engineer at Level 2 or a Principal Electrical Subsystem Wiring Design Engineer at Level 3, stationed on site in Melbourne, FL. The role centers on EWIS schematics, wiring design, EMI shielding, and ECAD tooling to satisfy SAE AS-50881 and IPC/WHMA‑A‑620 standards; a PhD in a STEM discipline is the educational requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Develop aircraft EWIS schematics and specify conductors, connectors, backshells, relays, switches, circuit breakers, and termination hardware in accordance with SAE AS‑50881 and IPC/WHMA‑A‑620.
  • Incorporate EMI shielding strategies and separation requirements across the wiring design.
  • Create wiring layouts using ECAD tools such as Mentor Graphics Capital Harness or Zuken, or equivalent platforms.
  • Coordinate with harness fabrication shops to verify manufacturability and quality standards.
  • Perform independent design work under general supervision and participate in multidisciplinary design reviews.
  • Provide troubleshooting support and assist in issue resolution throughout the product lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Level 2 — Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 2 years of related professional or military experience; or Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 0 years of related experience. Ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. government Secret clearance (in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access required for the position within a reasonable period, as determined by the Company. Professional experience in aircraft subsystems design and development.
  • Level 3 — Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 5 years of related professional or military experience; or Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 3 years of related experience; or PhD in a STEM discipline with 1 year of related experience. Ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. government Secret clearance (in-scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access required for the position within a reasonable period, as determined by the Company. Professional experience in aircraft subsystems design and development.

Compensation

Primary level salary range: USD 79,300 to 118,900 per year. Secondary level salary range: USD 98,400 to 147,600 per year.
