Principal OR Sr. Principal Engineer Structural Analysis (4/10 Day Shift)

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks a Principal or Sr. Principal Engineer for Structural Analysis to join the Palmdale, California team on a four-day, ten-hour schedule. The role concentrates on MRB stress analysis for both primary and secondary structures and composite airframe components, utilizing NX CAD, Femap, and Nastran. Compensation ranges from USD 114,000 to 213,400 per year.

Responsibilities

• Provide MRB dispositions for primary and secondary structures.
• Review completed analyses, drawings, and repairs for accuracy, clarity, and completeness.
• Coordinate and communicate with other disciplines during design solution development.
• Present structural issues and solutions concisely to internal management and customer representatives.
• Maintain and improve part designs, equipment, and systems to support production deliveries.
• Develop solutions to difficult problems that are thorough, imaginative, practical, and aligned with program objectives.
• Evaluate as-built products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications.
• Apply experience in structural analysis methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis, and in developing and manipulating large finite element models.

Requirements

• Principal Engineer: Bachelor’s in STEM and at least 5 years of experience; or Master’s in STEM with 3 years of experience; or PhD with no experience.
• Sr. Principal Engineer: Bachelor’s in STEM and at least 8 years of experience; or Master’s in STEM with 6 years of experience; or PhD with 3 years of experience.
• Active in-scope U.S. Government Secret Clearance and ability to obtain Program Special Access within a reasonable period as determined by the company.
• Experience in Bonded Composite Structural Analysis of primary and secondary aircraft structures.
• Experience in structural analysis methods and documentation, including hand-sheet analysis, and development and manipulation of large finite element models.
