Job Description

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal or Senior Principal Design Engineer to lead the design, modeling, and integration of facility releases for the Sentinel infrastructure and facilities. Based in Roy, Utah and operating onsite, this role sits on the Infrastructure Design Team and emphasizes delivering robust, compliant designs for critical infrastructure components, coordinating across stakeholders and ensuring the design baseline remains controlled throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate facility design artifact releases with impacted stakeholders for the Sentinel infrastructure and facilities.
  • Interpret and verify industry standards, guidelines, and codes for project deliverables.
  • Participate in project design and model reviews to ensure quality and alignment with requirements.
  • Review subcontractor design products for quality and accuracy, validating that current standards are applied and integrated into the design solution.
  • Support the delivery of Construction Drawings and Specifications Technical Data Packages (TDPs), Issue-for-Construction (IFC) packages, as-built TDPs, Product Definition Packages (PDPs), interface models, and additional design artifacts.
  • Contribute to structured trade studies that evaluate alternative design solutions to address technical challenges.
  • Develop and present design change requests, coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, and ensure configuration control of the technical baseline.
  • Advance facility designs that comply with applicable codes and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance; eligibility for Special Access Programs (SAP) clearance as a condition of continued employment.
  • Experience in Civil/Structural, Mechanical, or electrical design on MILCON or major infrastructure/building projects.
  • Knowledge of engineering deliverables such as drawings and construction specifications, with familiarity in one or more of AISC, ACI, IBC Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC), and MIL-STD codes and standards.
  • Understanding of construction materials, details, and techniques.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, engineering scheduling tools, and using the Internet for information gathering and communications.
  • Strong interpersonal, written communication, and presentation skills, including the ability to convey complex concepts to government and corporate leadership.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing directions.

Salary Ranges

  • Primary level salary range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00
