Job Description

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Iuka, Mississippi seeks a Principal or Senior Principal MRB Structural Engineer for a 3/10 weekend shift. The role centers on MRB and ASIP structural analyses, damage-tolerance (DaDT) assessments, and repair support for aircraft structures.

Salary

USD 93,300 - 174,500 per year

Summary

The selected engineer will perform structural analyses for aircraft repairs, applying classical static strength methods, DaDT approaches, and finite element modeling to discrepant metal and composite detail parts and assemblies. The position supports MRB and ASIP activities and involves collaboration within a team and mentoring of less experienced staff.

Responsibilities

  • Apply static strength hand calculations, DaDT analyses, and finite element methods to discrepant parts and assemblies made from metal and composite materials.
  • Develop and document detailed structural analyses for aircraft repairs, including free body diagrams, loading scenarios, shear and moment diagrams, and internal stress calculations.
  • Provide analyses in support of MRB and ASIP programs.
  • Collaborate within a team environment and mentor less experienced personnel.
  • Prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities to achieve project goals.
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and any Northrop Grumman MRB EN/ST signature is a plus.
  • Familiarity with aircraft structural design criteria and nonstandard repair or equivalent strength analysis background is a plus.

Requirements

  • Principal Structural Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in STEM with a minimum of 5 years of aerospace structural analysis experience, or Master’s degree in STEM with a minimum of 3 years in aerospace structural analysis.
  • Sr Principal Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in STEM with a minimum of 8 years of aerospace structural analysis experience, or Master’s degree in STEM with a minimum of 6 years in aerospace structural analysis.
  • Experience with MRB related activities.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.
  • Ability to work 2nd shift and/or Weekend shift.
