This Structural Design Engineer role focuses on creating and detailing structural systems for custom residential projects, including related additions and remodels, as well as light industrial and landscape structures. The position involves designing, calculating, detailing, and coordinating with clients, architects, contractors, and internal teams to maintain project schedules.
Responsibilities
- Design structural systems for custom residential homes, including new construction and additions/remodels.
- Develop structural designs for light industrial and commercial buildings.
- Prepare structural designs for tenant improvements.
- Model retaining walls and various landscape structures.
- Produce structural calculations, annotate plans, and develop specifications and notes for projects ranging from moderate to complex with minimal supervision by staff engineers.
- Coordinate from project inception through completion with Clients, Architects/ Designers, Contractors, and internal staff to meet schedules.
- Include site and field observations, printing/plotting, and mentoring or assisting staff engineers as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis
- EIT Certification
- California Professional Engineer license is preferred but not required
- Five+ years of experience in custom residential structural design
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Familiarity with IBC and CBC codes
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented, highly analytical, and highly independent
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work well in a team
