Liberty Mutual's Claims Technology group is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to design, build, and support cloud-native, full-stack solutions that modernize the claims experience for customers, adjusters, and internal partners. This hybrid role emphasizes hands-on development within an Agile team, with two onsite days per week and preferred sites in Portsmouth, NH and Indianapolis, IN, alongside Boston, MA; Plano, TX; and Columbus, OH.

Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, deploy, and operate full-stack software within an Agile product team
- Develop modern web interfaces and backend services to support claims experiences and business workflows
- Create scalable APIs, microservices, and event-driven integrations using Java and Spring Boot along with cloud-native patterns
- Develop and maintain responsive frontend applications using JavaScript/TypeScript and frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue
- Architect and implement AWS-based solutions using services like Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS / DynamoDB, SQS / SNS, Step Functions, CloudWatch, IAM, ECS / EKS, and other container runtimes
- Build secure APIs and integrations aligned with enterprise standards
- Implement authentication and authorization patterns leveraging enterprise identity solutions
- Design, optimize, and troubleshoot data models and application data flows across relational and cloud-native stores
- Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for production issues to improve reliability, resilience, and performance
- Build and refine CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions and related automation, testing, and quality tooling
- Enhance observability with Datadog and Splunk, including dashboards, alerts, metrics, logs, and tracing
- Contribute to discovery, estimation, technical design, story writing, and documentation
- Advance engineering best practices in code quality, testing, automation, and operational readiness
- Mentor engineers and help elevate team standards and execution
Requirements
- Bachelorβs or Masterβs degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of software engineering experience
- Proven ability to design, develop, and support production applications
- Experience spanning frontend, backend, API, cloud, and operational concerns
- Experience in enterprise environments with security, monitoring, and reliability standards
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern DevOps practices
- Experience troubleshooting application and database performance issues
- Open to using AI-assisted software development tools
- Owns medium-to-large features end-to-end, including design, implementation, testing strategy, and production readiness
- Leads troubleshooting and performance tuning (application and database)
- Drives API/integration work with attention to identity and security considerations
- Contributes to engineering practices (CI/CD, test automation, code quality) and mentors others
- Ensures observability, deployment, resiliency, and developer productivity standards across teams
- Partners with product, architecture, and security stakeholders and communicates trade-offs clearly
- Mentors team members and promotes High-Performing Engineering standards
- Strong fundamentals in clean code, testing, debugging, and design
- Experience integrating systems via APIs and adhering to enterprise standards (security, logging, monitoring)
- Ability to work in Agile teams using contemporary delivery practices
- Effective communication and collaboration; able to document and explain technical decisions
- Interest or experience with AI software development tools
