Naval Marine Engineer
Job Description
The Naval Marine Engineer role at CACI is remote-based and centers on design support, development, and analysis of ship propulsion and core systems for MSC and Navy programs, with up to 10% travel within the Continental US.
Responsibilities
- Develop marine auxiliary and piping systems, review preliminary and functional design documentation, and craft ship system specifications.
- Provide technical support on engineering projects both independently and within a team, primarily for NAVSEA and the Military Sealift Command.

- Conduct a supportability study to assess current and future support levels of equipment, addressing maintenance, TRANSALTs, reliability, and obsolescence issues.
- Perform analyses and inspections to identify essential modernization, upgrades, and lifecycle maintenance actions to extend the ships' service life.
Requirements
- Experience with ship auxiliary systems, including operation, maintenance, and design work for machinery upgrades and/or analyses on commercial, MSC, and Navy vessels.
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and develop mechanical and electrical drawings and technical manuals.
- Detailed knowledge of U.S. regulatory standards and ability to prepare ship documents for ABS Rules, Navy Standards, and other applicable engineering standards.
- Experience with Military Sealift Command marine engineering and/or Navy design practices.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
- Solid understanding of naval engineering disciplines and project management principles.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.

The Opportunity
- Support design efforts for TRANSALTs, OERA, machinery selection, and auxiliary systems design and analysis.
- Task management and interface with Government POC; provide direct support to Navy Ship Design Managers (SDMs).
- Support the design, development, and construction of main machinery, ship systems, DPS, propulsion, and other machinery systems, and mission systems interfaces for MSC and US Navy ship acquisition programs.
- Develop preliminary system designs including schematics and Ship Specification to ensure design elements meet Capability Development Document (CDD) and all regulatory body requirements.
- Travel to perform ship checks based on ship availability or 3D model review to investigate system/equipment to incorporate into each work package.

Pay Range
Salary range: USD 75,200 - 158,100 per year. Final compensation depends on location, experience, skills, certifications, and other factors. Because the role may be performed from multiple locations, the range shown reflects national averages.
