Controls Engineer, Deployment, Data Center Capacity Delivery
Job Description
The Controls Engineer, Deployment, Data Center Capacity Delivery is an onsite role based in Berwick, PA, focusing on troubleshooting, project management and operation of Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Plant Management System (EPMS) within AWS data centers. The position emphasizes developing new processes and standards to enhance controls while delivering capacity at the lowest feasible cost.
Responsibilities
- Guide internal customers and stakeholders through the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning and operation of BMS and EPMS systems.
- Provide technical support to data center operations throughout the facility lifecycle.
- Evaluate quarterly maintenance results for BMS and EPMS and coordinate actions to resolve identified items.
- Define project scope of work, schedules, budgets and level of effort for BMS and EPMS initiatives requested by customers and stakeholders.
- Oversee scope, scheduling, financials and execution of BMS and EPMS improvement projects within AWS data centers.
- Support procurement activities including RFPs/RFQs, responding to RFIs, reviewing vendor proposals and issuing purchase orders.
- Contribute to the AWS global on-call roster to provide immediate BMS and EPMS technical support to active data centers.
- Participate in project meetings, coordinate with project leads and deliver regular status updates to Controls leadership and stakeholders.
- Support commissioning activities related to Controls projects in data centers.
- Review, implement, troubleshoot and iterate on the controls sequence of operation (SOO) and provide feedback to the design team.
- Develop and modify control logic programming and graphical user interfaces.
- Manage multiple stakeholder requirements and navigate challenging scenarios.
- Oversee financial management of BMS and EPMS service contracts.
- Conduct frequent local visits to in-service data centers to troubleshoot, meet customers, and supervise vendors to ensure compliance with scope, design, SOO and local codes.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial controls and automation.
- At least 4 years of general contractor and vendor management experience, including RFPs, bidding, change orders, quality control and submittal tracking in construction and project execution contexts.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent engineering science plus 5+ years of relevant controls experience, or 10+ years of relevant controls experience in lieu of a degree.
