Data Center Controls Engineer, Deployment
Job Description
Join Amazon Data Services, Inc. in Fredericksburg, VA for an on-site Data Center Controls Engineer, Deployment role. This role focuses on troubleshooting, project management, and maintenance of Building Management System (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring System (EPMS) within AWS data centers, with on-call support through the AWS global on-call schedule.
Responsibilities
- Train and assist internal customers and stakeholders with the creation, design, configuration, validation, installation, commissioning and operation of BMS and EPMS systems.
- Provide technical assistance and support to operations during the life cycle of the data center.
- Review results and action items from quarterly maintenance for BMS and EPMS and drive resolution.
- Develop scope of work, schedule, budget, and level of effort for BMS & EPMS projects requested by customers and stakeholders.
- Manage scope, schedule, finance and execution of BMS and EPMS improvement projects in AWS data centers.
- Assist in procurement activities including RFQs/RFPs, responding to information requests, evaluating vendor proposals, and issuing purchase orders.
- Participate in AWS global on-call schedule to provide immediate BMS and EPMS technical support to in-service data centers.
- Attend project meetings, coordinate with project leaders and regularly report status to Controls and stakeholder management.
- Support commissioning activities related to controls projects in the data centers.
- Review, implement, troubleshoot and iterate on the controls sequence of operation (SOO) and provide feedback to the design team.
- Develop and modify control logic programming and graphical user interfaces.
- Manage multiple stakeholder deliverables and navigate complex situations.
- Financially manage BMS and EPMS service contracts.
- Frequently visit locally assigned in-operation data centers to troubleshoot, meet customers, and supervise vendor work to ensure compliance with scope, design, SOO and applicable local codes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience taking new design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment
- Experience with MS Excel, Word, and Windows operating systems
- Experience with power management and power monitoring systems
