Job Description

A lifecycle support and field engineering professional for AWS data centers, this onsite role in Lubbock, TX covers activities from design inception through site improvements and ongoing maintenance. The position acts as the primary engineering resource for regional data centers, leading audits, deployments, and cross-functional collaboration to boost capacity, availability, efficiency, and sustainability. The salary range is USD 116,800 to 160,000 per year, and the role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with a minimum of three years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot site and equipment failures, perform root cause analysis, and document corrective actions.
  • Provide ad-hoc operational support through targeted training and complex operating procedure reviews, including critical equipment and event support.
  • Own conceptual design for upgrades to existing data centers and develop design solutions that increase capacity, improve availability, and enhance efficiency and sustainability.
  • Collaborate with the data center operations team, design engineering team, server hardware team, and environmental health and safety professionals to promote standards that ensure consistency and reliability.
  • Develop innovative solutions tailored to AWS data center environments.
  • Manage concurrent projects across multiple geographical regions.
  • Initiate and lead engineering audits with on-site visits, delivering reports that identify risks and provide mitigations and remediation recommendations.
  • Serve as resident engineer on new construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and turnover processes.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission-critical facilities, including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
  • 4+ years of commissioning experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.
  • 3+ cumulative years of experience in industrial, municipal, or commercial engineering spanning sectors such as data centers, power generation, and oil/gas facilities.
  • Valid US driver’s license and reliable personal transportation by start date.
