Sr. Elec Colo Regional Engineer, Colocation Region Engineering
Job Description
Senior electrical and colocation regional engineer based in Atlanta, GA, on site, responsible for evaluating colocation facilities, validating data center MEPS infrastructure, and guiding AWS colocation product design and global standards. The role offers a salary range of USD 136,600 to 184,800 per year and requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field with at least six years of relevant experience.
Responsibilities
- Conduct site assessments of collocation data centers in alignment with AWS standards, including upgrades to legacy facilities and general capital initiatives.
- Perform risk analyses and availability calculations for vendor owned or operated facilities to determine fitness for use and service readiness.
- Influence AWS design and specification requirements to support the needs of AWS colocation products.
- Investigate and document root-cause analyses for infrastructure and equipment failures.
- Collaborate with vendors and jurisdictional authorities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal codes.
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, and commissioning teams to test and validate electrical, mechanical, fire suppression and control systems, as well as structural components.
- Support operations, data science teams and other business partners in determining utilization, efficiency, and performance of critical systems.
- Travel to data center sites as required, up to 50 percent of the time, including international assignments.
Requirements
- Six or more years of experience in data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance.
- Six plus years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission-critical facilities, including data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.
