Job Description
Collins Aerospace is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join the Crypto team in Fort Wayne. This role centers on designing, developing, integrating, and validating secure embedded software for military communications, including device management, reprogramming, key management, and encryption algorithms using C++/Rust on embedded Linux. The position is onsite, with a competitive salary and the requirement for an active security clearance secured through U.S. citizenship.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and integration of advanced embedded cryptographic solutions and communication products, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Architect secure, multi-threaded embedded codebases in C++ or Rust, advancing software architecture through innovative approaches.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements, oversee implementation, and drive test case development, verification testing, and certification activities.
- Mentor and empower software developers, promoting best practices and contributing to a culture of continuous process improvement.
- Shape products to elevate the security and reliability of critical communications systems and influence future innovations.
Requirements
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of related experience, or an advanced degree with at least 5 years of experience.
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Embedded software development and integration experience with C, C++, or Rust.
- Experience working on complex multi-threaded product software code bases.
- Experience with standard full lifecycle software development practices and configuration management tools.
