Responsibilities
- Develop innovative software solutions and tackle complex data engineering challenges using Spark based ETL/ELT, spanning design, development and troubleshooting
- Produce secure, production grade Python and PySpark code and Spark SQL logic; participate in end to end debugging and code reviews of others' Spark jobs and data logic
- Lead the adoption of enterprise AI assisted engineering practices to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes; establish secure coding, peer review and automated testing standards and promote reusable patterns
- Leverage the SDLC toolchain and AI assisted development capabilities to maximize automation value
- Identify repeatable issues and opportunities to automate remediation, enhancing data pipeline reliability and lakehouse maintenance
- Lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups and internal teams to assess architectures such as EMR/Databricks, lakehouse formats, and governance patterns
- Lead communities of practice to promote new technologies, with emphasis on Spark performance, Iceberg best practices, and data platform operations

Requirements
- Formal software engineering training or certification with at least five years of applied experience
- Five or more years delivering production data engineering or software solutions across design, development, testing and operations
- Hands on experience delivering end to end system design, application development, testing and operational stability for large scale data pipelines
- Advanced proficiency in Python and PySpark, with one or more programming languages
- Strong Spark SQL expertise and solid SQL fundamentals including data modeling, query optimization and execution plan analysis
- Proven experience using AI assisted software development tools for coding, code review, test acceleration and troubleshooting, with ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity and secure handling; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant AI adoption
- Experience with AWS data management patterns such as S3 and AWS Glue Data Catalog; familiarity with other cloud data platforms is acceptable
- Experience delivering and operating Spark workloads on EMR or Databricks, including tuning, troubleshooting, monitoring, and cost/performance optimization
- Production experience with Apache Iceberg lakehouses, including table design, partitioning strategies, file layout optimization, schema evolution and compatibility controls, and related maintenance tasks
- Proficiency with automation and continuous delivery methods, including CI/CD, automated testing, and repeatable deployments for data pipelines
