Salary: USD 84,762 - 129,498 per year

Responsibilities

  • Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design
  • Contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects for various clients
  • Prepare and review design calculations, develop specifications and reports, and assist designers with drawing development
  • Mentor others in the development of engineering deliverables
  • Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, and foundations using advanced engineering tools
  • Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant sites for construction coordination and field verification

Requirements

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Five or more years of experience as a project team member in the design and analysis of structures
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD, SAP2000, SAFE, STRUDL, or ANSYS
  • Proficiency with design codes and standards such as ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

AI & Automation at Sargent & Lundy

You will lead teams in translating engineering problems into solutions by leveraging data and modern tools, including automation and AI to streamline workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs. Roles in this area direct automation and process-improvement efforts, such as automating calculations, summarizing technical documents, and generating design documentation, while ensuring outputs are checked. Oversight of engineers who script and program to automate tasks is valued, though not required. Additional learning in computer science or related fields is welcomed to strengthen AI-enabled engineering workflows.

Compensation Transparency

Compensation range for this role is USD 84,762 to 129,498, with a comprehensive benefits package and potential eligibility for a yearly discretionary bonus, in alignment with local and state regulations.
