Senior Power Systems Electrical Engineer to join EPS's Alaska team in Anchorage, onsite. This role provides technical leadership in substation design, power system studies, and the integration of diverse generation technologies, with project management responsibilities. Salary: USD 125,000 to 165,000 per year.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal subject matter experts on substation design, power system studies, protection and coordination, and diesel power plant design.
- Serve as the technical lead project manager within a firm of more than 40 professional engineers.
- Lead or direct engineers in analyzing low voltage and medium voltage power systems, designing substations and power plants for unique environments, and managing projects.
- Develop control strategies and designs for integrating multiple generation technologies within the same facility.
- Prepare technical reports using Microsoft Word.
- Develop project proposals, scopes of work, and project schedules.
- Manage projects independently, coordinating data requests and submissions, tracking progress, and addressing client feedback.
- Provide technical oversight and direction to other engineers as needed.
Requirements
- Proven leadership with strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in project scoping, estimating, and detailed electrical design.
- Experience in management of and technical oversight for entry-level engineers.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with AutoCAD, SEL, Woodward, Comap, Basler, GE, ETAP, EasyPower, SKM and PowerWorld.
- Knowledge of VFD controls and applications.
- Field experience is preferred but not required.
- Microgrid, power plant, or utility experience is a plus but not required.
- Experience in off-grid applications and integration of wind, solar, and hydro generation is preferred.
- Ability to perform site visits and conduct project scoping with clients.
- Ability to work independently and within multidiscipline engineering teams.
- PE registration is required, or the ability to obtain an Alaska PE within six months.
