System One is seeking a DCN Instrumentation & Control Engineer to support hyperscale data center infrastructure modules in Houston. This hybrid role blends on-site collaboration with remote work, focused on control systems and instrumentation across the full project lifecycle, with a salary range of USD 90,000 to 135,000 per year.

Responsibilities
- Review and approve drawings, technical documentation, and engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with standards and project requirements
- Contribute to design development, planning, and technical review sessions
- Prepare technical requisitions for control systems, instrumentation, and related components
- Technically evaluate vendor bids and provide recommendations to procurement

- Review P&IDs, operating procedures, and startup/shutdown philosophies to ensure safe and reliable operation
- Define and specify safety and control instrumentation for major equipment packages; support control narrative and system philosophy development
- Provide technical support during startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting of control systems
- Perform sizing calculations for control valves, relief valves, and flow elements
- Recommend instrumentation and control system solutions based on cost, reliability, and performance
- Participate in HAZOP and other safety reviews
- Support installation by providing hookup details and reviewing contractor instrumentation scope
- Review subcontractor designs for compliance with project requirements
- Develop material takeoffs and bills of materials; support manufacturing during fabrication and assembly
- Respond to RFIs and provide field support during construction and commissioning
- Interface with customers during technical reviews and project discussions; identify opportunities for cost optimization and performance enhancements
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related discipline
- 3β10+ years of controls and instrumentation engineering experience
- Experience supporting data center infrastructure, industrial systems, or mission-critical facilities
- Strong understanding of control systems and instrumentation design principles
- Knowledge of control system architecture, instrumentation selection and specification, and industrial process controls
- P&ID interpretation proficiency; familiarity with control valves, relief valves, and flow measurement devices
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

The engineer ensures compliance with customer requirements, applicable codes, and performance standards while assisting with troubleshooting during fabrication and field execution. Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Experience in hyperscale or mission-critical data center environments
- Familiarity with IEC, ISA, NEC, NFPA, API, ASME, ANSI, OSHA, IBC codes and standards
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, BIM 360, SolidWorks, Navisworks
- Experience with fast-track design/build or large-scale industrial projects
- Strong understanding of ISA instrumentation standards
