CDM Smith seeks a Geotechnical Engineer to join the infrastructure services team in a Dallas, TX onsite capacity. The role focuses on developing and reviewing geotechnical designs, performing site reviews and soil sampling, and contributing to technical documentation, with travel required.
Responsibilities
- Create excavation, dewatering, shallow and deep foundations, dams, reservoirs, levees, geo-environmental projects, and related work under general supervision
- Develop engineering designs of basic to moderate complexity to meet client project requirements
- Review draft designs for compliance with federal, state and local regulations, ensuring adherence to firm policies and practices
- Conduct site reviews and studies as needed to align designs with location specifications
- Update design requirements as necessary
- Perform soil sampling analyses and modeling
- Contribute to the firmβs Technical Knowledge Management by developing white papers and technical design documentation for new or special case designs and studies
- Submit technical papers and designs for publication in technical journals
- Perform other duties as required
- May create or collaborate on posters or other presentation materials for conferences
Qualifications
- Intermediate knowledge of computer aided design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices
- Understanding of engineering design principles
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelorβs degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Mining or Geologic Engineering or related discipline
- 1 year of related experience
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required; travel frequency depends on duties and project demands
- Equivalent additional directly related experience may be considered in lieu of a degree

Salary: USD 71,781 - 118,477 per year
